Muted Jewel Tones:
What do you get when you blend jazz, folk, vaudeville, drinking songs, cowboys, and train murder mysteries with beautiful three part harmony? The voices of The Muted Jewel Tones! TMJT might be best described as a folk, vocal harmony band, or folkalharmony if you will. From their heads to their portmanteaus, Sandy, Raena, and Rose truly enjoy making music together. These three San Francisco natives met in high school, studying voice at the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts. Since then, they’ve hit the ground running, writing one original song after another.
How many different genres can one band play?
They’ll tell you when they figure it out.
From public fairs to private theater shows, TMJT enchants audiences young and old with their original arrangements of classic jazz standards and theatrical original numbers. Is there choreography? You bet! Are there acapella numbers? Sure are! Do they have secret plans to take over the city with a six piece swing band? Let’s keep that between us for now...
The Tones perform all across the Bay Area, including places such as:
Town Hall Theater, Lafayette (opened for established comedian Will Durst)
Hopmonk Theater, Sebastopol
Club Deluxe, SF
The Lost Church, SF
The Hotel Utah, SF
Murphy’s Pub, Sanoma
Uptown Theater, Oakland
If you are lucky enough to catch one of their shows, be sure to stick around for their infamous drinking song!
